A weekend of celebrations

What a fantastic weekend!  A nice loooong weekend, with lots of friends and celebrations.

Saturday we went to Stellenbosch for the day, Frannie had her birthday party at the Dornier Wine Estate at a fantastic restaurant called Bodega.  We had such a brilliant meal in the most beautiful setting!
But before lunch we popped round to Kyburg to say hello to the Ruests and say our goodbyes to Debbie, Ken and the Kids.  Kyburg is the Ruests Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, it's a beautiful wine farm with an awesome wineland backdrop.  Check out the website:  www.kyburgwine.com

Yesterday we met up with Howie and ... wait for it .... his fiance Melissa!!!!!  Yip, they came to Cape Town for the weekend and Michael Howard popped the question!!!  Congratulations guys!!!  So yesterday we went out for a double celebration, their engagement and it was also Melissa's birthday!  When John told me they were staying at the Mount Nelson, I knew they were getting engaged, you only pull that card once ... as Matt would say!
So we went to Wakami in Mouille Point for cocktails, well Virgin for me, before taking them to our all time favorite, Chef Pons!

Baby Woollam Update

No photos this time, you will all have to wait for the 7th of May when we go for our 22 week scan!

I was getting really excited this morning, just after breakfast I was sitting on the couch and I actually felt my baby!  It was so clear, I thought I felt something before, but this was clear as anything!  I felt the little active baba moving around in my tummy!  I also had my 20 week scan today, which was really exciting, as the last time was more than a month ago.

Baby Woollam is growing so well and making his/her mommy's tummy grow bigger and bigger by the day!  Dr Graves could hardly measure the little bugger 'cause s/he was moving ALL the time ... so his/her daddy's child!  S/He weighs +/- 385g at the moment and the little heart is beating sooooo well!

John and I got our first baby toy this week, on Wednesday we bought the coolest stroller EVER!  The Peg Perego, such a super pram.  It's light, small enough to actually fit into the car and can detach to just a frame for the first few months while we still use the car seat.

Just the car seat

Full pram with leg warmer attachment

So the next baby Woollam update will only be on the 7th of May, but keep clicking for more Woollam News!

Wishing all South Africans WONDERFUL long weekend's' ... :)

The Ruests visit Nr. 8 Riverside Close

We had another fun-filled weekend with lots of family and some friends.  John's sister Debbie, her husband Ken and the 2 kids, Nicholas & Karina came to visit us for the first time at our new house.  They arrived on Friday afternoon and our Cape Town weather played along till after they left! :)
On Saturday we decided to have some family and friends over for a braai and in good old John & Toni tradition, there is no such thing as a small braai, so we invited all the Cape Town family and a few friends.  We had to take our dining room table outside to have seating for the 14 adults and decided to put blankets on the grass for the 4 children.  All in all we were 19 people including little baby Anna who slept most of the time.  It was absolutely fantastic to have everyone visit us.

We started the day with a belated Easter egg hunt.  John and I got 63 eggs and it was hidden all over our garden.

Nicholas, Thomas (at the back), Daniel and Karina during the hunt.

With winter around the corner and elections on Wednesday it is going to be a cold and exciting week seeing who's going to rule our country for the next few years.

So to all the South Africans out there reading my blog ... get your asses in gear and go to your closest voting station! X

Lots of love to everyone!

A Wilderness Easter

Chocolate, family and the great outdoors ... what a way to spend a long weekend!

Thursday night we drove to my dad's in Hermanus to get ready for our long drive to Wilderness the next morning.   We decided to go camping next to the river.  My dad has this amazing bushwakka trailer, with built in kitchen and double bed, so not just camping ... camping in luxury!  :)

My dad and brother in our little campsite.  John and I slept in the trailer and my dad, Rudi & Katinka had their own tents.

We had a braai every night and played cards till we couldn't keep our eyes open.  It was a really relaxing weekend ... as you can see with our camping silliness photos below.

We drove to Sedgefield on Saturday for the Wild Oats Market and had pancakes, slap chips and homemade biltong and droewors.

On our way to Sedgefield we went to see the map of Africa and the Big Tree.

We also went for a long walk on the Wilderness beach, playing catch and in normal Vogt family tradition, had to watch while Rudi and John martial arts each other till John was eating sand and Rudi had to face the fact that John NEVER gives up!

On Saturday night, I got bitten by a rain spider, for those of you who don't know, this is a rain spider:

The bugger bit me in the neck and it was soooo itchy, I was convinced a killer mozie bit me, but then on Sunday morning I looked in the mirror only to find two little wholes on a red and swollen area in my neck.  When John and I put the chairs out for our morning coffee, I found the hairy spider that bit me on the chair!!!
Luckily my 4x4 all equipped dad had this little device that could pull the venom and if he had laid eggs in my neck, out of my skin.  This is what my neck looked like after this whole ordeal:

And now, for all those who has been begging and asking to see my stomach and my very small (if I might add) bump ... here it is:
Hope everyone had a fun-filled Easter and enjoyed family, Lindt bunnies and A LOT of rest!

18 Weeks 'n Counting

Our little Baby Woollam is growing so fast and already looks like the most beautiful little baba in the world.
This photo was taken on the 2nd of March and we can't wait to go back to see how big and beautiful s/he has gotten.
As you've probably noticed, we don't know the sex of our little bundle of joy and we're going to keep it that way till birth, but on the right hand side of our blog, we have a poll and would love to know what our friends and family think.
We will keep you posted on the development and growth of our little Baby Woollam.  The bump is coming along but nothing major to post yet ... keep on clicking on our blog for the latest!
